Pillars of grace: Gayaza’s UGX 7B Chapel Vision Gains Momentum
When legacy meets purpose, the results are nothing short of miraculous. On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Gayaza High School community proved this yet again during the high-profile “Pillars of Grace” fundraiser. The mission? To expand the school’s spiritual heart—ensuring a sanctuary for generations to come.

Champions of the Cause
The atmosphere was one of profound reverence and shared ambition. The Guest of Honor, the Most Reverend Dr. Kazimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, graced the occasion. Standing alongside him was the Chief Fundraiser, Owek. Robert Waggwa-Nsibirwa, whose call to action sparked a wave of generosity.
The Numbers: A Surge of Support
The chapel expansion is a grand vision with a UGX 7B price tag. While the current drive targeted UGX 1B, the community responded with overwhelming speed.
- Pre-Event Momentum: UGX 700M already committed.
- Saturday’s Harvest: An additional UGX 559M plus $12.5K.
- Cash Power: 72% of previous pledges realized in cash.
A Shared Legacy of Service
This event celebrated a century-long parallel of service. Both Gayaza High School and Rotary International were founded in 1905, just two months apart. This bond was reflected in the strong attendance from the Rotary Club of Kampala North, including Dr. Eve Kasirye-Alemu, Justice Joan Bushara Mugerwa, and Dr. Flavia Mpanga Kaggwa.
